The Bug you see above was the  first VW I restored. I have already told you how I purchased the vehicle, now I'm going to tell you how I have gained experience at restoring the vehicles I have bought. When I got the vehicle to my parents, I first thought what the hell have I landed myself in for, as the vehicle  was twice as bad as I thought. But I was determined to have a go so I got my mate round to do some welding for me, and the price he charged me just for welding two plates on the bottom of the door was so expensive, that I nealy dropped on the floor. So I thought I would be better getting a welder myself. So I picked his brains on how to mig weld and he told me make sure the gas is always in front and travel in a forward movement when welding, so he showed me over and over again and told me to practice with 2 pieces of metal till you get it right and be patience, so I practiced and practiced until eventually I got it right. So I thought it's now or never so out came the welder, grinder, tin snips etc etc, I cut the rust out and lined the new panel up holding it with clamps a bit nervous but confident, and hey presto I was doing it so I carried on and on and I got more and more better at it as I went along, until eventually the car was finished and the bug you see above was the finished product and all my own work apart from the painting which I had to take it to a garage for this to be done.

My motto is never give up on anything you know is worth it and this was worth it.
